Support a Loved One Who's Hurting, and Know When to Seek Counseling
Getting Your Needs Met on Family Holidays
Did you get what you wanted and needed on Mother’s Day? Holidays can be high pressure situations for families, especially when they’re about a specific family member. We often find ourselves comparing our imagined day with the real thing, and disappointment ensues. In this post, we discuss how to get the most out of a holiday. Hint: it involves doing things differently in between holidays. Father’s Day is right around the corner, so give it a quick read and have a great day!

Staying Connected to Someone Who’s Hurting
How can you connect with someone who’s in pain without losing yourself in the process? These guidelines from Robin Brannan LCMFT will help you be supportive without taking on too much.
1. Maintain good boundaries. (Their pain is not your pain.)
2. Help them help themselves.
3. Seek opportunities to co-regulate.
4. Remember to care for yourself.
What does all of that mean? Read the full post here for details about caring for yourself and your family in the toughest of times.
Does Your Child or Teen Need Therapy?
Especially this year, parents are worried about their children’s mental health. And because you care deeply about your child, you’re wondering how to help. This post lets you know how we determine if the challenges are clinical, or just everyday childhood stress.
In Person Therapy for Children, Couples, and Families
We returned to our offices part-time on April 15 and have LOVED seeing you! Face masks are still required in our building and our offices, so come prepared. We’ll continue this requirement until our child clients are able to be vaccinated.
Upcoming Topics
May is mental health month. We’ll continue posting content between now and the end of the month, including an article about warning signs of anxiety, depression, and ADHD. We’ll also help families learn to talk with their children about racism, as the anniversary of George Floyd’s death is featured on next week’s news.
