Happy New Year from Our Counselors and Therapists!

COVID-19 Policy Update

We established a comprehensive Infectious Illness Response and Preparedness plan last spring, and have been monitoring the Montgomery County COVID-19 data dashboard and CDC data since.

Currently Montgomery County is experiencing a high level of community transmission of COVID-19. Fortunately, access to vaccines is also widespread for ages 5 and older. Rates of severe illness remain low. As a result, we have chosen to remain open for in person sessions at this time. However, we strongly encourage all clients who are able to participate in sessions online to do so. If you have an upcoming appointment, please consider moving it online and DO NOT attend in person if you have been exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms of any illness.

My Kids Only Listen When I Yell

Yep. It happens to all of us.

Yelling is a natural instinct that has helped us keep our kids safe from danger throughout the centuries. Wolf sneaking up for a tasty snack? Toddler stumbling towards an open flame? Raising your voice has its place - but what about that pair of shoes…

Do you wish you had another natural way to react? Emily Williams shares some options in this post.

Appointments Available with Emily Williams, LGPC!

Emily has 2 remaining openings starting January 4. The open times are on Mondays at 12pm and 1pm (great times for couples or parents who are working from home)! Request an appointment here. Openings are routinely announced to our newsletter list when they occur. Add your email to our newsletter list here.

Is ADHD really an attention deficit?

If you’re a current client, you know that Robin Brannan has been out of the office for family medical leave. Emily Williams has written ALL of our blog content for December, and we know you’re going to love it.

In this post, she explores the real role of attention in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). You’ll learn how ADHD can reflect an abundance of attention, and how to train that attention to serve you well.

Need SPACE After the Holidays?

You’re going to see us talking a LOT about SPACE, but what is it?

SPACE stands for Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions. It’s an evidence based approach for parenting anxious kids. The best part - your child doesn’t need to come to therapy for this to work!

Sessions with our SPACE trained therapists allow parents to develop new ways of managing anxiety and then try it out at home! Each week you will meet with your therapist to go over your successes and challenges.

We’re Hiring!

We have recently offered positions to TWO great candidates and are expecting to have openings for new clients in early February. Stay tuned!

Every month we send a newsletter to hundreds of families on our email list. We don’t want our readers on the blog or social media to miss out! Click here to add your email to the list. (We will NEVER sell or share our list.) Or follow us on Facebook or Twitter to see our content when it is posted.

And of course, if you’re looking for Child Therapy, Couples Therapy, Teen Therapy, Family Therapy, or Parenting Support, we can help. We offer Online Therapy in Maryland. And our Kensington office is an easy reach from all over Montgomery County. Book a free consult today!
