Teen and Tween Therapy Intern

Julia Camara, Clinical Intern

“I don’t have enough friends who get me. I don’t know who I want to be yet. And my parents won’t let me figure it out on my own.”

I’ve heard lots of teens and tweens say it. And it’s true. These are the hardest parts of being in high school or middle school. There’s so much pressure to be who someone else wants you to be. While you’re still figuring it out yourself.

Your parents don’t get how you see the world. They’re from a different generation, and maybe from a different culture. That can leave you feeling lonely, and trapped. I can help.

I’m Julia. I’m a student working on my masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northwestern University. I’ve met amazing teens and tweens like you who feel like they don’t fit anywhere. Not at school. Not at home. I’m learning how to help you discover the incredible person you truly are. And to share that awesomeness with your parents too. So they can feel proud of who you’re growing up to be, and start to really trust you.

If you’re feeling like a pigeon in a flock of flamingoes, I want to meet you!

You don’t want to feel stuck any more. You want better friends. Better grades. Better relationships. When you’re ready to feel better, reach out. We’ll figure it out together.
