Alexis is a Therapist Intern pursuing her Master of Arts degree in Couple and Family Therapy at the University of Maryland. We are fortunate to have her launching her career in treating children and couples with young children here at Better Together! Alexis approaches each family she meets tactfully and thoughtfully and relishes moments of humor and play in the therapy process. Ultimately, she aims to help new families thrive.
Alexis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Pomona College, where she developed expertise in attachment in order to help parent-child and romantic relationships flourish. For her thesis, she completed and defended an independent study of the effects of trauma and self-compassion on empathy. Prior to entering graduate school she volunteered as a peer counselor and provided caregiving services to families with young children. Her experience as a caregiver continues to inform her work with parents and children in the therapy room. Alexis also has a deep love of animals and will explore the important role your pets can play in supporting your family’s emotional well being. Make an appointment to see your family thrive.
